Doug Warlick
Doug Warlick began his passion for the law in 2012 when he first started working in his father’s family law firm. Early in his career, Doug recognized the difference that an experienced, professional, and aggressive lawyer can make in his clients’ lives.
Doug grew up near Chicago in DuPage County, Illinois. He attended Marmion Academy, where he served as a Commander on the JROTC Military Drill Team and was a member of their prestigious wrestling team, earning national recognition on both teams.
However, Doug’s passion for the law led him away from athletics and focused his attention on academics. That passion led him to the University of Nebraska. There, he entered the accelerated three-plus-three program to earn his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and his Juris Doctor within six years. During his time at the University of Nebraska’s College of Law, Doug gained valuable experience as a Senior Certified Law Student working as a prosecutor, handling cases from arraignment through sentencing. This gave Doug unique insight into prosecutorial decision-making and trial strategy. He also clerked with Legal Aid of Nebraska, further strengthening his legal research, writing, and client advocacy skills.
In his final year of law school, Doug started his family. After marrying his wife and having his first daughter, Doug wanted to raise his family around his many nieces and nephews in Florida. This brought Doug to Pinellas County, where he worked as an Assistant Public Defender for over three years. As an APD, Doug represented hundreds of clients simultaneously and still provided exceptional service from initial consultations through jury trial. Doug successfully represented clients accused of offenses ranging from DUI to Attempted Murder in the First Degree, achieving favorable verdicts in 80% of his felony jury trials. During his time as an APD, Doug developed a reputation for his disciplined preparation, persuasive courtroom advocacy, and relentless protection of his clients’ rights.
Doug handles every stage of criminal litigation, including complex motion practice, evidentiary hearings, and jury trials. He has conducted countless depositions and examinations of law enforcement officers, medical professionals, expert witnesses, and civilian witnesses. Doug brings a strategic, detail-oriented approach to each case. His experience across many jury trials provides him with a deep understanding of jury psychology and trial dynamics, allowing him to craft compelling defenses tailored to each client’s circumstances.
